Mission and Facts

TACA exists to champion the performing arts. Its mission is to provide financial support and services to increase public awareness and participation in the performing arts. TACA seeks to be a predictable and dependable partner to the arts disciplines it supports.

In January, TACA distributed $1,000,000 to North Texas performing arts organizations for the fourth consecutive year. Grants went out to 41 diverse and deserving performing arts organizations, enriching the lives of North Texans of all economic, social and ethnic backgrounds.

  • TACA funding in 2012 supports almost 5,000 performances, which an estimated 1.2 million people will attend.
  • TACA's distribution this year brings the total dollars distributed since 1967 to more than $20.3 million to 144 established and developing arts organizations.
  • TACA began in 1966 with a single fundraiser that introduced Dallas to the concept of a seated black-tie dinner with a live and silent auction.
  • Over an eight year period, TACA saw a 255% increase in distribution dollars, from $282,000 in 2000 to $1,000,000 in 2008.
  • The organizations that TACA funds have annual operating budgets ranging from $27,000 to $30 million. TACA grants for 2011-2012 ranged from $5,000 to $100,000.
  • TACA funds support dance, music, theater, opera, musical theater and educational outreach programs.
  • TACA is thrilled to add for 2012-2014 an annual grant fund of $100,000: The Donna Wilhelm Family New Works Fund to Support the Development of New Work in the Area of Performing Arts.

  • Dedicated and passionate volunteers are the backbone of TACA, which operates with a dynamic and energetic Board of 40-plus members and a Board of Governors of 200 members.
